toot sweet was dreamt up by creative mother-daughter team, Paula Moreland and Courtney Davis. Located in the quaint downtown district of historic Fort Walton Beach,
toot sweet is popular with the locals and tourists alike for its fresh, funky yet sweet take on children’s clothing and accessories.
Paula grew up in Southern Georgia where she was always doing something in the fashion world. When she was 15, she began working and buying for a women’s clothing store. Shortly after that, her mother, Margo, opened a women’s clothing store and I think we can say that style and fashion have always been in her blood! Paula and her husband, Doug, moved to the Emerald Coast in the mid 80’s with their children, Courtney and Clint. They love this area and there’s no place they’d rather be.
Paula has four grandchildren that she adores: Kendall, 4; Caden, 3; and twins, Cooper and Chloe, 2. They are her inspiration, no doubt. She is looking forward to teaching Kendall and Chloe all about the world of fashion. They are already proving to be quite the fashionistas. One day she hopes the girls will want to work in the store with their “Yaya.”
Courtney has grown up in Fort Walton Beach and wouldn’t change that for the world. She attended Meigs Middle School, Choctawhatchee High and graduated from Florida State in 2001 with a degree in English. After living in Atlanta and Nashville for awhile, she was ready to head home. Courtney worked in radio advertising for almost 3 years, when she decided to pursue her teaching career. Luckily in 2005, she was offered a position at Meigs, a place very near and dear to her heart. She still teaches there part time!
A few years later, Courtney and her husband, Cory, found out they would be having twins! On January 1, 2009 the twins arrived 9 weeks early. And the hunt for cute, functional, funky twins clothing was on. Except…there wasn’t much out there. In July 2009, Courtney and her mom, Paula, decided it was time to open a clothing store that featured a wide selection of twins’ outfits, comfortable and funky outfits, and children’s clothing that would be affordable for moms…of course, the grandmothers lovetoot sweet too!
